As part of the City of West Palm Beach’s mission to “go green,” the fifth annual Marathon of the Palm Beaches — a three-day series of events starting Dec. 5 — will feature all-electric, zero emission vehicles leading runners from the starting line.
Also, the 3,000 children participating in the Ronald McDonald House Charities’ Kids Marathon Mile that Saturday will be given 100-percent recyclable back packs.
In cooperation with the county’s Solid Waste Authority, the marathon will recycle the gallon-water containers used on marathon course and the single-serve water bottles, both provided by Publix. The supermarket chain is also donating 300 reusable shopping bags for the marathon’s kick-off breakfast.
Way to go, Marathon organizers and West Palm Beach.
